With the infographic above, let us explore few percentage concepts in relation to the news in hand.

Solution:
In which zone (A / B / C / D) does the current winner’s prize money (50mn) fall into? How do you know?
B – 50% of $ 42 million is $ 21 million and 25% amounts to $10.5 million
So, 125% of $42 million is $52.5 million. The winner prize money is less than 125%, hence falls in the zone B.

Solution:
In which zone (A / B / C / D) does the current winner’s prize money (50mn) fall into? How do you know?

C – In this case 38 million is 100%
So, 150 % of 38 million is $ 57 million and 125% is $47.5 million
Hence, the winner’s prize money fall in the zone C (between $47.5 million and $52.25 million)

Solution:
C – As the increase of 50% of $440 million cannot be less than $650 million
